Dr. DeVido earned a Masters in Theological Studies at Harvard Divinity School before entering medical school at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He went on to complete adult psychiatry and addiction psychiatry training at Massachusetts General and McLean Hospitals at Harvard Medical School.
Board certified in adult and addiction psychiatry, and carrying certification in addiction medicine, Dr. DeVido specializes in the evaluation and treatment of addictive disorders as well as general psychiatric conditions in the context of co-occurring medical illness. In addition to providing medication treatment for addictive and other psychiatric disorders, Dr. DeVido is engaged in advanced training in psychodynamic psychotherapy at the San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis and continues to appreciate the fundamental importance of spirituality as part of a total-person approach to mental health care.
He maintains a teaching faculty appointment at UCSF's Department of Psychiatry and continues to teach, lecture, and publish on a wide array of psychiatric conditions.
